Justin Moore Talks about Music and Life

justin-mooreHit maker Justin Moore was recently interviewed about his current tour, his love of country music, and his personal background. He comfortably opened up about his roots. Coming from Arkansas, he grew up with country music and has always been a fan; but with regards to doing it himself and going into music, he got started at seventeen years old; he was a junior in high school then. The town he is from only has about three hundred people actually, and the prospect of becoming a music star is not that realistic. His father saw how gifted he was and encouraged him. Moore remembers the time when he was about to go to college, his father asked him if he wanted to go into music for a profession. It was then actually that he realized that he indeed could become a country music artist for a living.

Justin Moore says country music is very close to his heart. He grew up with it; out of six radio shows, only one of them wouldn’t be country. Country music is life in reality, it touches and sings about real people, talking about what people do, where they’re going, what they are facing, their struggles, hopes, and dreams. Blue collar people especially can relate to country music.

When it came to writing songs, he was unsure at first. He wondered what kind of music he had to make that will please people, and that would be easily understood and accepted by them. He thought that if he wrote about personal stuff, about things that came from his own heart and experiences, the public wouldn’t be able to relate. His growing experience in the music industry now proves otherwise. He observed that the more honest he is thru music and the more personal he became in making music, people could relate more. If the message was personal to him, then it’s personal to the millions of people who will get to hear it.

On his new album, ‘Off the Beaten Path’, he comments that his roots are indeed traditional country. However, through the album, he is able to experience and showcase personal growth in craft and song interpretation. He desires to grow his fan base and with the new album, the subtle evolution of ‘Justin Moore’ will pleasantly surprise country music fans.

A Closer Look at Country Pop Music

Country pop is a subgenre of country music. Its influence comes from soft rock and country songs. This brand of music flourished in the 70’s. However, in the 1950’s, the merging of country and pop took place when Chet Atkins and Owen Bradley conceptualized a genre that will suit the young adult crowd. It is deemed as a way to make country more appealing to the younger audience as rock songs have won them over. Among the first artists to have dwelled on this genre are Jim reeves, Patsy Cline and Eddy Arnold. It is also believed that this innovation in music started in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Popularity of Country Pop

It was in 2000’s when this brand of music started to become more popular. Some artists, who succeeded in making this brand known, include Dixie Chicks and Lee Ann Womack. The presence of country singers in American Idol also paved the way for this genre to be even more popular. Carrie Underwood is the most notable of them all. Her hit single “Before He Cheats” is one of the most popular country pop hits in recent years. In the late 2000’s, these singers were joined by Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts who have also made the genre more appealing to a wider group of audience.

The success of country pop artists was reflected in terms of their album sales and even recognition from award-giving bodies. For instance, Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift both have been nominated and won various Grammy Awards. 2 of Swift’s albums topped various music charts including the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums. Her Red album also sold 1 million copies just a week after it debuted. Some of her popular songs include “We are Never Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Another country pop duo called Florida Georgia Line has also gone popular these days. The partnership of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley that started in 2011 has become appealing to many people. In fact, they are going on tour this year. If you wish to buy a ticket, you can check out

Comments Off on Singing to Your Baby Has Lots of Benefits

Singing to Your Baby Has Lots of Benefits

When you try to keep your baby calm and stop crying, you will most likely resort to singing. In a way, this helps in keeping your baby quiet. Therefore, whether you have a good voice or not, you try your best to sing any song just to stop your baby from crying. The truth is that babies receive a lot more benefits when you sing to them instead of rocking them when they cry.

According to a study conducted by Hungarian and Dutch researchers, it was revealed that babies have innate skills to detect the differences amongst the rhythm being played to them. They did the study by measuring the brainwaves and brain activities of the babies when they listen to a song. This only means that at such an age, they already know the difference between usual spoken words and melodies of a song.

Hidden Benefits of Singing to Babies

Aside from making babies feel entertained or relaxed, singing to them may also lead to the following:

  • Advanced language learning. There were some studies conducted that have proven that infant can learn their first language faster when they listen to music at an early age. They can easily pick up the lyrics in the song and eventually use the words they have recalled to speak an intelligible language.
  • Avoidance of speech deficiencies. Babies who are not exposed to languages or words at an early age could possibly end up with delayed speech development. For some, it could even lead to speech defects and disorders. However, when babies are accustomed to music, the possibility of speech disorder is very low.
  • Better parent-children relationship. When parents sing to their babies frequently, they form a strong bond at an early age. This makes the baby more trusting to the environment. As the baby grows older, he or she becomes more attached to the parents. Of course, this helps a lot especially in raising kids who will eventually want doing things their way.
  • Lower mortality rate. Studies have also revealed that music sets the mood of the infant. When the infant feels relaxed, feeding and sleeping becomes a regular cycle. There won’t be any problem in doing these important things. As a result, growth and development will take place.

How to Sing to Infants

If you already believe in the power of songs to the development of your baby, then don’t hesitate to try it out. Whether you have a great voice or not, it does not really matter. The most important thing is that your baby can listen to certain melodies and be familiar with some words through the lyrics. It is a big no though to place headsets on your baby’s ears. They are so sensitive and could potentially damage their sense of hearing.

As early as the 25th week of pregnancy, it is advised to start singing to the infant inside the womb. This must go on until they have already been born. In fact, some babies grew up to be great singers simply because they have been constantly exposed to songs and melodies.

It won’t hurt you to give this technique a try.

Secret Formula in Writing a Hit Single

The music industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. If you are an aspiring musician, you definitely want a bite in this large pie. However, not all musicians succeed in making a name in the business. There are those who tried out for years, but still remained anonymous. There are others who are lucky enough to have made a one-hit wonder and have become a millionaire overnight. In short, if you wish to succeed in the music industry, you need a hit single. You need to produce something that will stimulate the hearts and souls of the listeners. All you need is one song, and it will take you from there.

When you wonder what the formula in writing a hit single is, the truth is that there is really no single proven theory. There is no song that appeals to all people. You ask 5 different people about their preferred genre and particular song, and you will get 5 different answers. However, there are some things that you can do in order to produce something that could be a potential hit.

  1. Don’t force yourself to write a song even if you are not in the mood to do so. Writing a song is not a task that you can just do right away. You need an inspiration to get things done. You might be able to think of the best lyrics while driving. You might be seated on a park and suddenly, words pop out of your mind. Just make sure that you bring something to write on all the time. By then, you can easily put into writing what has magically come out of your thoughts.
  2. Don’t think about making a hit. This is where pressure comes in. Some musicians try too hard to please many people. They really want to create the lyrics and melody of the song based on what they think will be a major hit. As a result, the song sounds too forced. If you want to make something great, just write it from the heart. All you need to do is to touch the soul of your listeners and entice them with inspiring words.
  3. Pick out the best line from the words you have compiled and make it as your main chorus. Try to feel all the words that you have written. For sure, a line or two will stand out. The said part has a strong impact on your that you simply cannot describe. If it hits you in an unexplainable way, it could also have the same effects to other people.
  4. Stay open and be positive. Even when you are in other fields, nothing comes in just a blink of an eye. Things have to be practiced over and over again until perfection is achieved. Just don’t feel discouraged when what you have previously written did not become a hit. Soon, you will be able to create one that can really capture your audience’s attention.

When music is your passion, you will surely find a way to create a huge hit in no time. However, if you do things with money and stardom as your inspiration, then you will definitely not achieve your goal.

Troubled Pop Singers and Their Influence to Teens and Tweens!

1380065995_miley-cyrus-justin-bieber-zoomThe problem in social media is that it has a tendency to embellish the odd. Controversial issues are viral. Serial killers become famous. Rape victims become instant movie icons. The actress with the drug problem is more talked about than the actress who has her head on straight. The social badass kid gets more attention than the kid who is an achiever. There are always exceptions to this tendency though, but most of the time the person who stands out more than others, are the ones who manufacture drama. Sad truth is, if a certain star does something good, it takes a troop of PR professionals to put it into the mainstream media. But if that star gets into trouble, or if something tragic happens, it would be all over the celebrity gossip sites in a matter of minutes (or seconds, thanks to Twitter and Instagram.) More advertisement means more people buying it. The more it’s being talked about the more it becomes famous. And famous is what’s “in” and our young ones think it’s all acceptable. It’s because they are remarkably different, and so as our beloved pop stars.

Almost every young pop singers or bands nowadays are famous for dressing provocatively and singing lyrics that convey adult subjects like love, sex and violence. It’s somehow a big issue for an adult to behave in this manner, but is it okay for teens and tweens? Interview any teen pop singer and they will claim they are empowering young people by setting an example to them that they can be anything and do anything. There is completely nothing wrong about encouraging the youth about loving and being themselves. Pop artists have all the means to influence their followers. But, are they really helping them?

Let’s take Miley Cyrus as an example, real name Destiny Hope Cyrus. She is known as the lead role in the famous Disney Channel TV series Hannah Montana. She started as a sweet, wholesome young actress and was idolized by many young kids like her. She maintained a decent career all throughout her teenage years. Until recently, when she turned 21, not much of a rebellious age, she generated controversy in a sexually explicit public image while promoting her fourth album Bangerz (2013). In the album there’s “We Can’t Stop”, where she dressed herself as a flirty teddy bear as if to show her transition from wholesome to sensual. Also there’s “Wrecking Ball” where she rides a wrecking ball naked like a carousel. Her music videos became instantly viral because it’s sexually provocative, totally different from the Miley Cyrus they used to know. Is it because of her breakup with Liam Hemsworth that she decided to let loose? However, most of her fans still follow her absurd ways.

Then here comes Justin Bieber who recently had been in a double legal trouble. Last January 23 early this year, he was arrested for drag racing with R&B singer Khalil Sharieff, after police spotted them racing two luxury cars on a residential street at 4.09 AM local time, with two other vehicles who are seems to be used to hunk off the area. He was then charged by Miami Beach police for driving under the influence, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired Georgia driver’s license. He once again spiced things up a bit by smiling on his first ever mug shot in Miami-Dade County jail. After being released he was then faced with an assault charge in his hometown, Canada. He admits that he has been smoking a ton of pot constantly and taking prescription drugs. He ignores his mother’s plea to go to rehab, says he doesn’t need it.

Sadly, but these pop singers are handing over a negative idea that the young should embrace misery as a way to be different. They are showing examples of how young women should exploit their sexuality even if it results in being a pedophile’s wet dream or a victim of rape. They demonstrate to young men that it’s okay to get intoxicated by alcohol, and drugs. Swearing and assaulting people is just a norm. Most of their songs broadcast too much kissing, nudity and lust that make the listeners to think that sex is like a candy freely given to every fling. Hence, children sing along as 50 Cent sings “Candy Shop”. A song that is so innocent looking and is catchy to the kids they will think the song is just all about that. (It talks about sex by the way.)  Many other songs like Justin Timberlake’s “Strawberry Bubblegum, John Mayer’s “Your Body is a Wonderland” and more other singers use candy words and children’s story-related lyrics to attract those innocent young viewers/ listeners.

They are passing on a large influence to everyone, especially to the young. Did you know? Study shows that kids as young as 5 years old are mimicking the provocative behavior of inadequately dressed pop stars? They learn to pout and thrust by watching music videos. At school prom, there were junior primary school students who were also dancing “exotically” in an attempt to copy their music idols – including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Kylie Minogue. They commit into relationship flings because Taylor Swift does very good in making love songs about her past relationships. For the innocent viewers, it’s acceptable and cool to stick out your tongue to everything because Miley Cyrus does it and she’s famous. For the guys, they think its okay to wave a middle finger to everyone who pisses them off because that’s how Justin Bieber does to his annoying paparazzi.

These pop stars may be setting a bad influence more than they are empowering the youth. Thinking of it in a different perspective though, as wise citizens and mentors of the future generation, we should look at these young troubled pop stars as a big screen picture of how the youth will be if they continue making wrong decisions. Let them realize the right and the wrong. Let them know that some people walk down the paths forged by others, just to try them on for size, and some discard them for a trail they blaze on their own. Encourage them to be remarkably different, in a good manner.
